- For June, 2024, our Catholic cooking has a vintage flair! We are trying 3 recipes from "The Cook's Blessings" by Demetria Taylor. This vintage find was originally published in 1965 and gave us a fun peek inside Catholic kitchens and recipes of yore (spoiler: there was a whole lot of gelatin going on back then). This book has all kinds of ideas and suggestions for liturgical living and eating, so join us for a fun retro culinary trip through the Catholic year!

Do you have a favorite Catholic cookbook to recommend?
Oh this was just so fun. The cookbook sounds great & that's neat that it has menu samples. All the recipes looked good even the clam one. I bet that'd be good w/ salmon as well.
Thank you for being here for us !
Salmon would be a great twist on that recipe!
Mmm, everything sounded delish!! Thanks for sharing this vintage cookbook with us!!
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching :)
The tomatoes are similar to how I do them. We love them.
Gelatin was a huge part of my childhood (I'm 50s vintage), up to and including the celery-flavored Jello, which my mom used to make a chicken salad in aspic dish. My brother still shudders at the thought some 60 years later.
Oh, my- can't even fathom chicken salad in aspic. Your poor brother!
That is such a cool book! Plus, you can never have too much pepper!
Lol- we had plenty!
Yay more cooking vids! Love them! Monsignor noodles sounds like it could be a new pet name lol. 😃
Lol- yes; that would be a great name! The Parochial Vicar is missing Pagan Cat and could do with some company.
All the recipes looked delicious.
Thank you 😋
I love tomatoes so much. I’m going to try this. Not gonna lie, I would have liked to see you try the gelatin concoction! 😂
Lol- we may try it in the future….
FYI…Cider vinegar doesn’t have alcohol in it. It’s actually really good for you. Just in case you have a recipe in the future. Everything looks great. By the way…that jello salad sounded yucky…and I like jello salads.
Thanks for the info! Yes- the relish mold just didn't sound great. We may try it in the future if we are feeling brave!

That's a good idea!
Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Are you kidding with this?
